Samsung T1 Updated Software For Mac
I am using a recently purchased Samsung T1 SSD 1TB. Use the encryption/password feature I have to have the Samsung software to 'unlock it'.
The Portable SSD T1 500GB USB 3.0 Drive from Samsung utilizes a solid-state drive to provide quick access to your data. This drive transfers your files to and from a computer via USB at a rate of up to 450 MB/s. Furthermore, it features USB 3.0 technology that keeps up with the fast transfer speeds this drive offers and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. To store your important files, it offers a storage capacity of 500GB and protects it with AES 256-bit encryption.
Since it uses no moving parts, the solid-state drive withstands shock and vibration better, when compared to a typical hard drive. This portable drive is less than 0.4' thick and weights only 0.9 ounces so you can easily carry it in your pocket, purse, or handbag when you need to take it with you. Please note that this drive is encrypted out of the box and will require you to run the activation software in order to access its full capacity. Software and instructions are preloaded on the drive. Samsung Portable SSD T1 Samsung has included the power and performance of an SSD with hardware encryption and has enclosed it in a compact case with a USB 3.0 interface. Hi-Speed Performance Compared to traditional spinning platter external HDDs, the T1's portable SSD is up to three to four times faster.
This means you'll save time when moving or retrieving files like music, movies, documents, and photos. AES 256-Bit Encryption For many people their data is their life -- whether it's personal or professional. That's why Samsung has equipped the T1 with advanced security using an AES 256 bit encryption algorithm to secure valuable data. No installation is required and all your data can be accessed with one password. Slim Compact Shape The T1 features a slim compact shell with laser patterning and black chrome metalized finishing. Internal SSD-Level Performance The T1 is designed with an SSD that provides up to 450 MB/s read and write speeds, which is faster than typical hard drives.
Compact and Convenient Now, you can keep your data with you at all times thanks to the T1's compact, portable design. At 2.8 x 2.0 x 0.4, just slide it into your pocket, wallet, or bag and you're good to go.
Shock and Vibration Resistant Because it utilizes solid-state technology, the T1 has no moving parts, making it more resistant to shock and vibration. It also features Dynamic Thermal Guard that protects data in high temperatures and allows you to take your data safely with you wherever you go. Rated 5 out of 5 by derekguitar from Great little SSD I've read some of the other reviews and I have no issue so far with this hard drive. I'm using it for video work. Mainly band demo's. I did originally reformat the drive for use with apple. No issues doing that either.
I needed something very fast that could handle the work load of 5-8 streams of 1080p for editing. It has been working great. After I'm done editing I will store everything on another drive.
This drive will be exclusively for editing footage. Of course delivery was accurate and on time. The drive itself has no noise and is only a little bigger than a CF card!
I'm very happy with my purchase! Rated 1 out of 5 by Steve from Ridiculous setup This may be one of the fastest drives on the market, but it has the most idiotic setup requirements ever. I give it one star because I can't give it zero. For whatever reason Samsung decided that the best way to ship this drive is as completely locked, save a 128MB partition with install software that only works on compatible Windows/OSX machines.
The install adds a proprietary driver and then proceeds to unlock the remaining storage space. This ordinarily wouldn't have been an issue, but working in an all Linux shop, I had trouble finding a compatible Windows/OSX machine.
