Latest Version Of Quicktime For Mac Mpeg

I wanted to convert a MPEG2 from my Tivo to edit in iMovie. Free accounting software for mac. I looked through the forum and dowloaded MPEG Streamclip, spent the $20 for Quicktime MPEG2 program. Quicktime version is 7.16, Streamclip is version 1.8.

When I start to do the conversion to DV, Streamclip sends up a dialog box and tells me to upgrade my MPEG-2 Playback componet to a newer version, if I tell it to continue it starts then gives the me the message again and stops. I dowloaded the MPEG-2 componet for Quciktime today. Is there anything else I am missing in terms of settings/configuration or is this a bug. Any help would appreciated. The error I am getting from MPEG Streamclip is. 'Your MPEG-2 Playback Component needs to be updated.

Please download a newer version from Apple: ' I am making the assumption from the error the software I downloaded yesterday from Apple is somehow being interpreted as 'old'. Apple says the software will work for Quicktime 6.4 to 7. Streamclip I also downloaded yesterday and it appears to be the latest version.

I don't get an option to 'Open Batch' only 'Open Files'. Do any of you know an alternative to Streamclip I can try, if I have pay something that's ok I would like some options. Again thanks for the responses. Bruce - The option I had the most success with in Streamclip is under List, then Batch List -- that brings up another window which has an Add button. It took me a bit to get it figured out, but there is a manual available under Help.

In terms of other options, look at VisualHub. It is well-regarded for video conversions. I just did a test conversion of an mpeg-2 muxed clip and it successfully converted it to.dv format (the clip was 1 min long and it took just under 2 minutes to convert).

I have a project currently, where I need to use the MPEG Streamclip application. While, what QuickTimeKirk says is probably true, MPEG Streamclip needs to have the MPEG 2 component installed. Therefore, I just installed it on Yosemite by hand. It requires that you have admin access and aren’t afraid to use the command line. This is what I did: 1. Mount the disk image that QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback comes on. Right-click the installer package and select “Open.” Double-clicking doesn’t work, because this predates Apple’s requirements for code-signing, which was introduced in Lion.
