Running Gw2 on a 2 year old MacBook Pro on low/medium settings and it’s usually fine in areas without tonnes of people but I definitely notice lag in LA and later end game zones. I saw recently someone said running it on boot camp with windows 10 improves it a lot, so I was just wondering: Is boot camp safe and reliable?

Is it hard to install/use? Will it actually improve performance that much that it’s worth using? Thanks in advance for any answers, love this game and just got back into it after a year out • • • • •. I've played gw2 solely on my (ancient) macbook pro for years, but I recently got a (slightly) newer windows machine with very similar specs, and gw2 runs SO MUCH BETTER. On a newer mac running windows, your performance will probably be even better than my (old) dell! Bootcamp is actually pretty easy to install and use, and apple should have good instructions to follow! Just make sure you have the harddrive space for windows + gw2 + anything else you might want to run on windows.

(lack of disk space is the main reason I never ran bootcamp on my macbook pro.) • • • •. I still use a 2013 pro for when im away from my rig.

The mac has the 650m as opposed to integrated graphics and a laptop i7 (not sure what model but its 2.3ghz) and 4gbs of ram. For games like GW, WoW, and some indies Mac OS really isnt terrible, not great but it works non the less. I use bootcamp to play gwent and divinity (originally used bootcamp for all games) but i kept running into and still run into the issue where running windows turns my mac into a nuclear reactor if its under heavy cpu load. One day saw my cpu at 92 fahrenheit so i moved my MMOs to the mac side and even though i still had not great temps it was a noticeable difference.

This isnt an issue if youre at a desk and have a computer fan but when youre on the go and dont have a great surface it gets hot to the point where you could cook bacon and the keys on the keyboard burn your fingers. Games do run better on windows, no doubt about that, unfortunately it has its quirks. Meanwhile my buddies acer predator could run far cry 5 while his laptop was wrapped in a blanket and his temps would still be manageable. Maybe its because my mac has a gpu but it seems like its always my cpu and ram taking a beating (the ram is understandable since its only 4gb ddr3 and its just not worth it to me to up it since i rarely use it for games). I 100% support using boot camp, Windows is unbeatable but it still reminds you that youre on a mac • • • •.

It should improve your GW2 experience as game will run native on platform it was written on, but I wouldn't expect any serious improvements as game engine isn't handling places crowded by players very well in first place. You can tweak graphic settings, turn off player name plates (those can be bring up at any time by pressing modifying key on keyboard; not sure which one is on Apple keyboards as I haven't played GW2 on these machines in 4 years) to squeeze those frames but there won't be a performance miracle OSX client is a Windows client + little piece of software called Cider that translates on-the-fly Windows code to be usable on Apple machines. Cider is the fork of • • • •. May I ask a question that is a bit off-topic?
