Epson 2200 Printer Driver For Mac

I've just spent almost an hour with Apple Support and they were not able to help with this issue, despite the fact that a quick Google search shows that I'm not the only person with this problem. I'm using the most recent Epson drivers from the Epson website and although I can print, I cannot select any paper types, resolution, double sided printing, high-speed, etc. I've tried to reset the printer queue, I've deleted all the driver from my Library>Printer folder and reinstalled. Anyone have any suggestions? I've done several searches and followed the various procedures others have recommended to no avail.

I have no trouble printing to my 2200 using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Preview. What drivers are you using Epsons or Gutenprint?

I am using the Epson one (ver 3.09) You can find out the drivers by opening System Preferences -> Printers Select the Epson and then click on Open PRint Queue, click on the 'i' Info button in the print queue to see the version. I think you need to use Epson's. I downloaded them from their site and installed them. I also downloaded there paper profiles and installed them.

Finding the 'handle' to get to the things you want to set was, and to some degree, still is, a bit obscure to me being relatively new to the Mac (and loving it!) Using Preview as an example open an image and: Select File -> Print In the middle of the column of various Settings you will see Preview click on it and you see a bunch of choices like: Page Settings, Color management, Print Settings etc. Each of these changes the options ans let's you select paper size, paper type, print speed who manages color etc. In Photoshop CS3 You select some of the options in (Photoshop File -> Print and the rest after you hit Print which gets you the Mac OS X Print dialog. In this case 'Layout' is in the middle box instead of 'Preview' but clicking on it reveals the same option dialogs. There is a similar thread [here for the moment I'm working with him directly as we're into some nitty gritty specifics but I expect we'll summarize some of the results when we're done. If this doesn't help give us some specifics of what/how you're trying to print. First of all, you should probably delete the current printer entry for your 2200.

Then you should try to add it as a new printer. I will say that some functionality and recognition of the latest driver seemed to work better when I switched to using USB vs FW, but the options were all there, either way.

I have not experimented with any connection other than direct, and once with Bonjour with another, newer printer than the 2200, but currently both Epson printers I use are connected directly to the computer via USB. I moved from XP to OSX two months ago and have been working to get my 2200 to function properly ever since.

Epson 2200 Printer Driver For Mac

I have spent many hours on the phone with Apple, Adobe, and Epson. I have tried all three possible drivers. I understand that the driver, which in OSX 10.5 is called a plugin, that came with OSX is the most current version from Epson. Last evening Epson finally concluded that they have not updated their driver for OSX 10.5 and have no intention to do it. In fact, the Epson tech said 'The 2200 is six years old, you can't expect Epson to support it any longer. You need to purchase a current model'. What a crock.
